Working with Partners

The birthing person’s partner/husband plays an essential role in providing support for them. I am not there to take over this role, or to make some of the unique contributions that only a partner/husband can make – such as intimate knowledge of the birthing person and love for them and their child. My role is in addition to, not instead of, the partner/husband.

Childbirth Joy

Ideally, I augment the partner/husband’s support. I know when to step back and allow the couple to have the intimacy they need and is appropriate for their birth. By simply modeling what works for a laboring person I can also guide a partner/husband into supporting their loved one with confidence and into realizing full potential.

I have worked with many other family members as well. It is not uncommon to have mothers, fathers, grandmothers, sisters and close friends in the laboring room. We can make room and honor anyone you choose to invite. It’s important that you feel you have the team that is best for you.
